Squirrels lived in the rocks. Dean liked them, but Lucie found them kind of creepy: instead of scampering around in trees like squirrels should, they scooted out of holes in the ground like rats that had grown cute bushy tails as a "photograph me, don't kill me" defence mechanism against humans. It worked in this case.
