Maria is in rehabilitation because on September 12 she was hit by a car while crossing Shattuck Ave near our house. She broke her pelvis and pubic bones and spent over 2 months in hospitals and nursing homes, not allowed to put weight on her legs. She is very excited to have finally graduated to a rehabilitation center. She proudly showed us how she can walk again (albeit slowly, and with a walker). She is scheduled to go home in another week or so.
